Sophistication

Description

This picture was inspired by something I was taught recently by one of the most brilliantly right teachers I have ever had.

But, first, let me ask a question.

What is sophistication?
What is the definition of being sophisticated?

I shall tell you what I have been taught;
It is the ability to lie.
To cover up your natural feelings and take a pretense of normality. It is to lie to yourself in order to deceive others. And the people who seem the most 'Sophisticated' happen to be very, very good at this.
The opposite of sophistication is to be natural. To show the feelings as you feel them; never to lie about how you feel, what you think, your opinion. Two opposite ends of the spectrum.
I really wish you guys had been sitting with me during my lesson so that you could have heard the way this teacher told it. She is always so amazingly right about things like this.

What does this have to do with Monarch?

Why, Monarch has two faces, of course.
Which is the natural and which is the sophisticated?
That's where things get cloudy...

At heart, Monarch and Saik were both nice people . But Saik was twisted by her surroundings and learned how to be cruel.
And even though Monarch chooses to be the natural, sweet, lovable thing she is at heart, she can be sophisticated .
Monarch lies much more than she would like to think that she does...

So, she knows both sides of the coin and can become them. Even though naturally she can be nice, rub her the wrong way, force her to change, cause conflict with her, and remember that she knows how to be the bitch from Hell.

Aren't people amazing?

Monarch C me.

I would have to agree with your statement. Sophistication, and experience, define our ability to manipulate. Charisma is the same. Our presence, whether purposefully subtle or inspiring and grand, our diction, the way we speak with others on any level. It all comes down to how we carry ourselves-- and what that means to us. Lying to ourselves or lying to others.

On the other hand, to paraphrase Toko, lying is a very ugly form of manipulation. To make an art form of your charisma is to have others follow you because you tell them the truths they need to hear.

Food for thought for everybody, really. Thanks for sharing the pic, and your words :)
