I really like the concept of the Mistress and the Monster; part of the point of them being connected is that there isn't a true definition of which is which, as you will have seen in the last Betwixt pages. The Mistress represents the bond between Monarch and Saik, and the blurring of the line between them. Her antennae, as a result of this, are actually more resemblant of Mona's, Monarch's previous form/life after Saik and before her current.

They are a symbiotic form; if one is severed from the other both will cease to exist, just like Monarch would not exist if Saik were not born, and visa-versa (though you have yet to learn about those events ;D )

The mistress acts as the voice for both of them, but both are infact sentient, the monster perhaps more so than the maiden. While the Mistress's form shifts, the form of the monster remains the same, unchanged, and in some ways, pure.

She is a nightmarish interpretation of Monarch's entire existance.
